Statement
We regret to receive the information contained in the article entitled "Eksperymenty medyczne na płodach? Ministerstwo Zdrowia o sprawie prof. Maksymowicza", published in the ONET NEWS section on April 13th, 2021, at 11:02 am, the source of which is Jakub Szczepański's article entitled "Prof. Wojciech Maksymowicz dla INTERII: Szukają na mnie haków”.
It is disturbing to combine in this article the statements of the spokesman of the Minister of Health about the study of documentation of medical experiments in the field of neurosurgery from 2013-2020, carried out at the University of Warmia and Mazury, under the supervision of prof. W. Maksymowicz, which, according to the spokesman of the Ministry of Health, Wojciech Andrusiewicz, concern "a very delicate matter concerning fetuses", and result from the information obtained by the Ministry of Health quoting "about a possible very unethical - that is to say the least - proceedings at the university" with the information that quoted "medical research conducted by prof. Wojciech Maksymowicz and his team at the University of Warmia and Mazury were used in the treatment of patients of the „Alarm Clock" Clinic established by the Ewa Błaszczyk's „Akogo?Foundation. "
This random or non-accidental combination of information suggests that alleged, unconfirmed medical experiments on fetuses were used in the treatment of patients of the "Alarm Clock" Clinic founded by the Ewa Błaszczyk’s "Akogo?” Foundation.
We declare that we have been cooperating with prof. Wojciech Maksymowicz and the University of Warmia and Mazury and we are grateful for the huge, charitable contribution of knowledge and skills in the treatment of patients in a coma. In 2015-2017, in cooperation with the above-mentioned entities, at the University Teaching Hospital in Olsztyn, we performed 15 implantation of central nervous system stimulators (posterior cord). The treatments were possible thanks to the unique know-how of Japanese professors Isao Morita and Tetsuo Kanno from Fujita Health University. Such surgeries have so far been performed only in Japan, and they bring excellent results: more than 300 procedures have been performed, and more than 60% of patients in a coma regained consciousness after pacing. Patients in a coma (with minimal awareness), whose current neurorehabilitation was not sufficient to wake up from a coma, were qualified for the treatment. Poland is the second country in the world where such treatments have been performed.
The described procedures were of an experimental nature in our country and were carried out on the basis of the consent of the bioethical commission. Neither of these treatments can be combined or associated with any of the "fetal medical experiments" as the title of the article suggests.
For 20 years of the Foundation's existence, we have been actively working to protect the lives of people who are often condemned to disability or death, due to the lack of appropriate treatment methods. During this period, we managed to wake up 80 patients at the „Alarm Clock" Clinic for children in Warsaw and 28 patients at the „Alarm Clock" Clinic in Olsztyn. After the success in the treatment and therapy of children and adolescents, we took action for adults. We are currently building the "Alarm Clock" Clinic for adults in the Mazowiecki Hospital of Bródno. Therefore, referring to our Foundation in the context of any allegations of non-ethics is particularly unpleasant for us.
We also express our firm opposition to the spreading of fake news, rumors and manipulations that frequently occur in the media reality of recent years.
